". . . and then the light came pouring in through the walls"

Written for The Definiens Project, featuring their instrumentation at the time: flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, oboe/english horn, violin, cello, and piano. The composition is inspired by a miraculous story I heard from a man working at a charity donation center. He had been blind for several years as the result of an accident, until his doctors suggested an operation to restore his sight. He described his impressions after the operation: as they unwrapped the bandages, it was as if solid objects began emitting light, and light suddenly came pouring in from everywhere, through the ceiling and through the walls.
